• 2025 Rules Reviews covering key areas such as substitutions, dead-ball awards, overthrows, intentional drops, and common base running mistakes
• 2026 Rules Updates and current points of emphasis
Mechanics
• Pregame positioning and responsibilities
• Plate work fundamentals, including stance and slot positioning
• Practical mechanics aimed at improving consistency, timing, and credibility
From the Diamond
• Analysis of real NFHS game situations
• Play breakdowns designed to improve recognition and accuracy on complex plays
Umpire 101 Course
Umpire 101 is included in this training and serves as the foundation for new umpires entering the program. It covers:
• Basic rules and terminology in a clear, beginner-friendly format
• On-field mechanics, including positioning, signals, and communication
• Game management concepts focused on professionalism and effective interaction with players and coaches
Experienced umpires are encouraged to go through Umpire 101 as well. It provides insight into what newer officials are being taught and helps reinforce a shared teaching language across the group.
